To start off Homecoming right in September, the Brandywine Heights High School Girls’ Soccer team played and beat the Oley Valley Lynx. With a 1-0 score, the girls added another shutout to their overall game stats. With their win, they were also able to take back the first place spot in their division.
“I was relieved that we won the game, and I was very happy that we were ranked number one in the division again,” says freshman Tayler Roberts.
The goal was scored by Autumn Bieber, a sophomore, and the leading goal scorer for the season so far.
“My second year of homecoming games were really good and exciting,” said Autumn.
The girls were very excited, and are looking forward to winning more games in the near future.
After the big division win for the girls, the 2015-2016 Homecoming Court was announced. Michael Unis and Claire Johnson, Mckenna Tinsman and Logan Gehman, Hunter Miller and Morgan Baxter, Niko Jorge and Taylor Baxter, and Ty Robinson and Leslie Soffa were all in the running.
Once all the votes were tallied up from the Homecoming Dance the night before, Michael Unis and Claire Johnson were announced as the Homecoming King and Queen for the senior class.
“I really enjoyed the Homecoming ceremonies, and it was exciting to see my best friend win,” says Leslie Soffa, a senior at BHHS.
Following these exciting events was the Brandywine Heights Boys’ Soccer game who faced Antietam. Although the boys fought long and hard they just couldn’t pull out the win. The Bullets gave it everything they had, but with only 20 seconds left, the Mountaineers were able to score their winning goal.
“I felt very angry that we ended up losing, and it happened so close to the end of the game. However, I was still proud of the team and the effort and resilience they showed,” said junior Robert Lichtenwalner.
The Bullets ended up losing 3-2 to the Mountaineers, but the Bullet Nation never stopped cheering them on.
“Playing under the lights was a lot of fun,” said Ryan Heydt, a freshman, “Bullet Nation cheered us up the whole time.”
The goals were scored by junior Chris Unis and by senior and captain Hunter Miller.
Overall, it was a great ending to a fun and exciting week of spirit, dancing, and soccer games.
