Grandview Speedway closes out their Saturday night racing schedule as the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series features Mods at the Madhouse on Saturday, October 15 – a thrilling three-division show headlined by a Big-Block/358 Modified Monster challenge – plus action from the Sportsman and the TSRS Sprint Car Series. Race time is set for 6 p.m.
A staple of the Thunder Series calendar for over 15 years, the Halloween-themed event presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings will feature a 40-lap Big-Block/358 Modified feature event with a possible $5,000 top-prize going to the winner. The treats don’t stop there, with tenth place offering a $1,000 payday and a possible $500 to start. With that kind of payout you can pretty much be guaranteed that a stellar field of competitors will be on hand.
Regular Grandview ghouls are expected to defend the Bechtelsville home turf including 2016 track champion Craig VonDohren and recent Freedom 76 victor Jeff Strunk. Outsiders expected to haunt the hill include Billy Pauch Jr., Ryan Watt, Rick Laubach and Ryan Godown.
There is no entry fee, but competitors are encouraged to pre-enter by October 10th by calling 443-513-4456. Pre-entered competitors will compete for a $5,000 top prize and $500 to start. While non-pre-entered competitors will compete for a $4,000 top prize and $400 to start.

Joining the Modifieds on Saturday, October 15 will be the Sportsman, competing in a 25-lap feature event paying $1,300 to the winner plus qualifying events. 2016 Track Champion Jordan Henn and the 38-lap Freedom Sportsman winner Brandon Grosso are expected to compete. The TSRS Sprint Car Series joins the action with a 25-lap event, and the Blast from the Past Vintage Cars are included in the night’s activities.
Race fans young and old are encouraged to dress in costume to be eligible for special Halloween treats, a tradition of this event for many, many years. The Halloween Party remains a big part of this event.
General Admission ticket pricing is $25 for Adults, Children 6-11 are $10 and Kids 5 & under are FREE! The pit fee is $35, and a license is not required.
Pit Gates open at 2:00 p.m., Advanced ticket holders can enter at 3:30 p.m.; General Admission gates open at 4:00 p.m., the first green flag flies at 6:00 p.m.
* * *Many fans will remember seeing the action at Dorney Park Speedway many years back and there are many fans who currently enjoy the racing at Mahoning Valley Speedway. The 7th annual Dorney Park-Mahoning Valley Speedway Reunion, remembering the great racing and great racers, will take place at the America On Wheels Museum on Sunday November 13 starting at 11:00 a.m. The reunion created by Dale and Bob Snyder in 2010 has grown beyond all original expectations as an event that takes the Dorney and Mahoning community back down memory lane. The Reunion has become one of the AOW Museum’s biggest single day events will honor the stars of Dorney Park Speedway and Mahoning Valley Speedway.
Highlighting the show will be the induction of four drivers from Dorney and Mahoning to the America On Wheels Hall Of Fame. A race car show will be held on the museum grounds and all cars from any type of racing old or new are welcome to be displayed. After the HOF ceremonies there will be driver interviews.
Show starts at 11 a.m., Hall Of Fame induction at 1:00 p.m. followed by driver interviews.

* * * New Egypt, N.J., Speedway closes out their season on Sunday with a Mud Hop. This is a chance to see local mudders run through the infield mud pit to score quick time! Pit gates open at 10 am, grandstands open at 12:30 p.m., and the first truck through the pit will be at 1 p.m. Adults are $15, children 6-12 are $5, and children 5 and under are free. Pit admission is $25. Bring the kids to enjoy fall themed activities including pumpkin decorating.
* * * As NASCAR is into its Chase races and the Verizon IndyCar Series season has finished, Pocono Raceway has a lot to say with regard to winning championships.
Kurt Busch and Chris Buescher each won NASCAR Sprint Cup races at Pocono Raceway. Those wins, the lone victories for either driver this year, vaulted them both into the “Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.” Busch, in the No. 41 Monster Energy Chevrolet, captured the Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400, while Buescher piloted his No. 34 Dockside Logistics Ford to Victory Lane in the Pennsylvania 400.
Five of the 12 NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers who are in the Chase for that series, were all part of the “Pocono Raceway Takeover of Philadelphia” in early May.
Kyle Larson, who won the inaugural NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Pocono Raceway, the Pocono Green 250, carried over this winning momentum to qualify for the Chase after winning his first career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in August at Michigan International Speedway
William Byron leads a group of eight drivers in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chase. One of his six wins this season was the Pocono Mountains 150 at Pocono Raceway.
In the Verizon IndyCar Series, Will Power secured a win at Pocono Raceway in the ABC Supply 500. That victory put Power in contention to win a championship. Simon Pagenaud, despite some difficulties at Pocono Raceway, won the series championship for owner Roger Penske.
An ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards driver, Chase Briscoe, used his success at Pocono Raceway to contend for a championship as well.
Pocono Raceway will host seven national motorsports events during the 2017 racing season, including two NASCAR Cup races and the Verizon IndyCar Series. A NASCAR XFINITY Series race, one Camping World Truck Series Race and two ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards are also on the schedule for 2017.
