2013 marked the 25th Anniversary season for the Harrisburg Area Riverboat Society and the Pride of the Susquehanna Riverboat. As a community service organization, the Riverboat Society has always offered a free monthly cruise during the summer to the Lebanon VA Hospital. As further thanks to current and past members of the military, the Riverboat Society extended FREE ADMISSION on any 45 Minute Public Sightseeing Cruise during the 2013 season to veterans and active duty members of the military. This program was so successful in being able to serve our vets and active military members that the Riverboat Society will be extending this offer again for the 2014 season.

‘Last season, during our 25th Anniversary year, we were able to honor many hundreds of vets and active duty military personnel with free cruises,’ says Riverboat Society Board Chairman Jeff Tinsman, ‘We were so happy with the response and wonderful feedback that we decided to continue the program into 2014!’

Each year, the PA National Guard conducts launching and retrieval exercises of the Pride into and out of the water for the Society. Without their help, the Riverboat Society would be unable to offer this iconic feature of the Harrisburg skyline. The Riverboat Society sincerely thanks them or their service to not only the Pride, but also to the Commonwealth and Nation.

Veterans, active duty military members, and their spouses, can take advantage of these free cruises on any of the 45 minute public sightseeing cruises that occur at noon, 1:30 p.m.& 3 p.m. Memorial Day to Labor Day during the 2014 season. Appropriate ID must be shown for passage.

Being a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, the Harrisburg Area Riverboat Society operates the Pride as a service to the community. In particular, we are happy to show our current and past members of the armed forces how much they really mean to us. The Pride is essentially the ‘Community’s Boat,’ and without continued public support, the Pride will be unable to fulfill its mission and continue to offer wonderful cruises and events for our veterans and others in the community. Donations and contributions are always welcome!
