Berks Opera Company and OperaLancaster present "Amahl and the Night Visitors" at Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Blvd, Wyomissing at 4 p.m. on Jan. 6.
A disabled boy, Amahl, lives alone with his widowed mother in Palestine. He often tells tall tales, so when he says a star as big as a window is shining overhead, she is wearily skeptical but when three kings arrive, journeying with precious gifts for a wondrous child, miracles happen.
Since its premiere on NBC TV in 1951, as the very first Hallmark Hall of Fame Christmas Special, “Amahl and the Night Visitors” has become an essential holiday classic. Performed all over the world, it has been seen by more people than any other opera.
Berks Opera Company presents this heartwarming story for children of all ages in collaboration with OperaLancaster. Tamara Black stars as the mother. Tom Cozzoli, Kevin Durkin and Christyan Seay play the three kings, and Amahl will be Berks Youth Chorus member, Eoin Morris.
“Amahl and the Night Visitors” will be presented at 4 p.m. on Jan. 6 at Atonement Lutheran Church in Wyomissing. Tickets will be for sale at the door. Two children under 12 free with each adult ticket sold. Ample free parking.
