Hamburg Art of the Brew

A variety of craft beers from more than 30 breweries will be represented at the 6th annual Art of the Brew craft beer tasting event held at the Hamburg Field House on April 6. More than beer, the event also includes wine, hard cider and mead samples.

The phenomenon of craft beer has taken the adult beverage industry by storm. In many ways more like an art form than mere food science, the craft beer movement has showered consumers with a diverse menu of beers appealing to all tastes and preferences. From ales to stouts to lagers and beyond, the inspiration behind each offering, as well as the artwork on the label, are often as unusual and colorful as the brews themselves.

On April 6, a variety of craft beers from over 30 breweries will be represented at the 6th annual Art of the Brew craft beer tasting event held at the Hamburg Field House.

This unique event includes regional favorites including Hamburg’s own 1787 Brewing Company, Copperz, Lancaster Brewing, and Yuengling, plus many others from across the state and beyond.

The 1787 Brewing Company will feature their local favorite IPA, “Dunnerwetter” and “Every 3rd Wednesday”, a coconut brown ale. Revere Brewery from Tamaqua will be sampling their favorite IPA, “Hippy Hoppity”, a vanilla porter, and a pale ale.

In addition to the breweries, three wineries will be offering samples of red, white and rosé wines with flavors ranging from fruit and whiskey meads to a hazelnut port or an agave tequila wine. New this year will be Blake’s Hard Ciders from Michigan and Downeast Cider House from Massachusetts sampling their specialty hard ciders. Another “newbie” is the Lang Beverage Company based in Nanticoke, PA offering limited releases of their freshly distilled, small batch, artisanal spirits. They will be joining the Reading Distilling Guild, which will be providing samples of their white and spiced rums and vodka.

If you are a craft beer aficionado and appreciate the subtle nuance and creative genius that goes into designing and brewing these unique beverages then you will not want to miss this event. The doors open at 1:30 p.m.; tasting is from 2 to 5 p.m.

The event is hosted by Our Town Foundation, Hamburg’s non-profit community revitalization corporation with assistance from Windsor Distributing of Hamburg.
