Community members are invited to indulge their interest in regional folk culture at the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center’s annual Heemet Fescht, which is a celebration of the harvest and Pennsylvania Dutch farm life.

This free, fun and educational event for the whole family will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22. The event will feature PA German folk life demonstrations, live animals, kid’s activities, folk music, barn star painting, music and more.

Premier local entertainment from Mike Hertzog of the Blue Mountain Trio, Keith Brintzenhoff, Butch Imhoff, and Ed Goldberg & the Odessa Klezmer Band can be found in the barnyard.

PA German cuisine will be available from the Old Time Plow Boys and in the Farmhouse Kitchen.

Travel the site to find art created by Berks County artisans, as well as a children’s craft tent.

Experience historical and cultural live demonstrations, featuring hearth cooking, smokehouse, wood working, hex sign painting, tin smithing and more. The Sharadin farmhouse will come to life with the sound of harp music provided by Sarajane Williams of Planet Harp. The Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen will be on site to show guests traditional crafts of the PA Germans.
