Hopewell Furnace hosted its A Century of Costume on Saturday June 9.
More than 25 participants braved the heat to don clothing dating back to 1771, the inaugural year of Hopewell's existence to 1883, the final year that Hopewell was creating and producing iron. The event was hosted by Ellen Boyer, a long-time volunteer at Hopewell.
'I've always been a costumer. This is what I've always done,' Boyer said. Boyer has been a volunteer for 18 years at Hopewell. Boyer did tours of the big house at Hopewell and now has come 'full circle' with hosting the fashion show.
The volunteers ranged from elementary school-aged children to the elderly. The clothes were for both the working and wealthy people at Hopewell Furnace.
