Kutztown and Hamburg high school artists recently received awards on March 3 at the 2019 BCIU Secondary Art Exhibit, an annual celebration of local art education hosted by the Goggleworks Center for the Arts.

For Kutztown High School, the following received awards. Lloyd Stanton received 1st Place in the category for Computer Art & Digitally Altered Photography. Abigail Ide received 2nd Place in the category for Oils/Acrylics. Marina Schnell received an Honorable Mention for her wheel-thrown pottery and Brianna Stauffer received an award through the Fast Lane Art program.

For Hamburg Area High School, Gabrielle McCullough received the BCIU Permanent Collection Award for her glass tree and Hayleigh Benson won the Fast lane Art Award for her clay mask.

The Secondary Art Exhibit, held in the Irvin & Lois E. Cohen Gallery at the Goggleworks, is presented by Berks County Intermediate Unit to showcase the talents of Berks County’s High School students. The exhibit displayed printmaking, oil, watercolor and acrylic painting, calligraphy, sculpture, fiber arts, photography, ceramics, digital art, jewelry, basket weaving, pastel, drawing, and woodworking.
