The Northeast Berks Chamber of Commerce was approved for a coronavirus-related grant in the amount of $19,417 from Berks County.
COVID-19 caused the chamber to experience a reduction in revenue in 2020, which adversely impacted the organization’s financial resources and its long-term ability to provide economic revitalization services within the county. Commissioner Kevin S. Barnhardt championed the Northeast Berks Chamber’s funding request submitted in late October by Executive Director Lori B. Donofrio-Galley.
“As chamber president, I am grateful that we were selected for this grant opportunity," John L. Scott said in a statement. "Without the support of the Berks County Commissioners, we would face additional difficulties for our organization and members. The business and nonprofit members we serve and the products and services they provide are vital to the greater economic area. We are dedicated to supporting that business activity and fostering networking, educational programs, and resources even in this time of uncertainty.”
