Almena M. (Groff) Yarnell, 90, went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior Sept. 8, 2008, at 5:30 p.m. in Wyomissing Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she was a resident for two years.She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Augustus G. Yarnell, who passed away June 27, 2008.

She was the last of her immediate family.

Born Feb. 10, 1918, in Bainbridge, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Franklin P. and Mertie M. (Smith) Groff. She is survived by her daughter, Darlene M. (Yarnell), wife of Robert J. Wright Jr., Cumru Township, and a stepgrandson, Todd J. Wright, Pottstown.

In addition, she is survived by three nieces, three nephews and three sisters-in-law.

Mrs. Yarnell was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale, for 35 years.

She was a beloved wife, homemaker and mother to her lovely daughter. She loved to play her organ and loved to work in her yard. She loved their two dogs, Luvy and Candi.

She attended Bainbridge School, was raised in Bainbridge Church of God and was baptized in Church of God in Lancaster by Pastor Benjamin Keckler, who was pastor of the church at the time.

Services were Friday at 9:30 a.m. in Bean Funeral Home, 129 E. Lancaster Ave., Shillington, with the Rev. Grant A. Wickert officiating.
