Antietam Middle-Senior High School is undergoing two important scheduling changes for the 2008-09 school year. The Board of School Directors approved the first change from a semester block schedule to an alternating day block schedule. Students will have four classes on odd-numbered days and four different classes on even-numbered days. We as a district feel this change will help improve all test scores giving the students an opportunity to have courses in a year-long format.

The other change is to the regular bell schedule that has been in effect for a number of years. We are modifying the schedule to include a pre-block period of time to be used for music instruction, journalism (yearbook and newspaper), and time to complete homework, research in the library or the computer lab, and quiet reading.

This change is in concert with our redesigned Instructional Support Time that will provide a required 34 minutes at the end of each school day for students who are underachieving. The school day will end at its normal 3:10 p.m.
