FLEETWOOD — A Birdsboro woman is accused of spraying Fleetwood Police Chief Steven J. Stinsky in an eye with pepper spray when the chief was trying to transport her to a hospital, according to court records.
Nicholina A. Hodges, 33, of the 400 block of Beacon Street was in Berks County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail following arraignment before Senior District Judge Thomas M. Gauby Sr. in Reading Central Court on aggravated assault and related charges.
According to police:
Employees at Fleetwood Bank reported a woman was walking barefoot in the bank about 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26.
Hodges told Stinsky that she was involved in a custody dispute and wanted to sit at the bank. Stinsky told her that she could not remain in the bank, and she walked outside.
Stinsky contacted Birdsboro police and other officials and was advised to take Hodges to a hospital.
When Stinsky approached Hodges in the 100 block of South Richmond, Hodges pulled pepper spray from a pocket and sprayed Stinsky in the face, and resisted another officer, who arrested her.
