Thanks to a four-goal second period, the Boyertown High ice hockey team pulled out an 8-4 victory over Great Valley on Friday, February 8. Travis Erb led the way for the Bears scoring a hat trick and assisting on another goal.It was Tim Moyer who got the Bears on the board with a goal with 11:32 remaining in the first period. Phil McKee was credited with an assist.
After the Patriots tied the game three minutes later, Erb got the Bears back in the lead with a goal on Matt Straface's assist.
Boyertown opened the game up by outscoring Great Valley in the second period, 4-1.
Straface scored the first goal of the period on assists from Moyer and Erb. Then Tyler Heidelbaugh gave the Bears a 4-1 lead with a goal assisted by Moyer.
Erb then made in 5-1 with an assists from Moyer, and Chris Johnson scored Boyertown's final goal of the period with assists from Straface and Jeff Nurk.
Moyer scored an unassisted goal in the third period and Erb completed his hat trick with Nurk getting the assist.
Boyertown outshot Great Valley, 39-25, as goalkeeper Todd Franz got the victory.
