Boyertown Area Senior High School Junior and Boyertown Service Unit Girl Scout Olivia J. Crocker was elected 2015-2016 State President of the Pennsylvania Technology Students Association (PA TSA), at the State Conference held at Seven Springs Resort.
Chairperson of the PA TSA State-wide Green Committee and Vice President of her chapter at Boyertown, Crocker related how being a member of TSA has left its mark on her, and encouraged her fellow members to leave their mark on TSA, their local chapters, communities, our nation, and the world through the exercise of the knowledge and skills acquired through their TSA experiences. Crocker has been a member of TSA since the Eighth Grade, placing first, second or third in numerous individual and team events at the regional, state and national Levels. She thanks Boyertown’s TSA Advisors, Josh Pennington, Todd Kennedy and Kevin Reigner for volunteering their time so that students have the opportunity to participate in this worthwhile organization.
The Technology Students Association, promotes technology education, leadership, knowledge, respect, motivation and occupational choices through individual and team competition in events related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). While some events involve advance research and construction of models and projects, others are on-site, head to head competitions to test technical knowledge, problem –solving, and communication skills.
When asked to comment on Crocker’s election, Boyertown Senior High Advisor Josh Pennington said, “I have to be honest, when I started working with TSA about six years ago, I would have never guessed that our little chapter that only sent about nine kids to the state conference would be the home of the PA TSA State President just a few years later,” he said. “Our growth and commitment to TSA from our students is truly awesome.”
The Boyertown Chapter plans to travel to Dallas Texas at the end of June to compete in the TSA National Conference for the second consecutive year.
