A Boyertown man was jumped by several men, beaten and robbed of his Donald Trump hat and gold ring while walking to his vehicle from a Union Township tavern, state police said Monday.

After the assault about 3 a.m. Sunday, a witness helped the victim back into the bar in the 2200 block of East Main Street, which is Route 724, near Douglassville. The victim eventually went home and called 9-1-1, troopers said. An ambulance transported him to Lehigh Valley Hospital, near Allentown, for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Troopers said the bar management and employees failed to call 9-1-1 to notify police of a fight that occurred in the parking lot of the business.

A description of the assailants was unavailable.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police at Reading at 610-478-4011.
