David R. Weller, 71, of Gilbertsville, died on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at his home. He was the husband of Annetta L. (Mayberry) Weller, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.

Born in Pottstown, he was a son of the late Russell C. Weller and Marion (Almond) Weller. From the time he was 3-months old, he was raised by the late Fred and Emma Delong.

Mr. Weller was a fork lift operator for 37 years for the Mrs. Smith Pie Company, Pottstown, He was very active with the Salvation Army from the time he was nine years of age. Mr. Weller held different positions, including; Young People Sergeant Major, Songster; Corps Cadet Counselor; bandsmen and served for a long time on the Corp Counsel.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Mark D. Weller of Pottstown, Allen E. Weller of Dover, Del., Matthew J., husband of Meredith Weller of Reading; two daughters, Donna J., wife of John Freed of Pottstown, Sherry L., wife of Jack Thompson of Boyertown; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Charles and Sam Weller, four sisters, Floss, Betsy, Barbara and Gloria.

In addition to his parents and foster parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley and Maggie.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at the Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte Street, Pottstown. Major Mary Francis will officiate.

A viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick.
