Dozens of people gathered at Boyertown's Rita's Water Ice on Aug. 27 for a chance to meet a member of the U.S. women's national soccer team. Nicole Barnhart, a Gilbertsville native, stopped by Rita's with her Olympic goal metal to meet and greet community members. People were lined up for an hour outside of Rita's with their soccer gear and photographs for a chance to get Barnhart's autograpf. The athlete was more than happpy to autograph paraphanilia, share some of her experiences at the Olympic games, and take pictures with her fans.
Bardhart currently plays for the Philadelphia Independence of Women's Professional Soccer, she played college soccer for Standford Cardinal and now holds the Stanford women's record for lowest career goals against the national average.
