The Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) Education Centre, 2101 Centre Avenue, Reading, hosted U.S. Sen. Bob Casey Jr. the morning of Tuesday, March 19.

Casey is currently visiting child care centers across the Commonwealth to facilitate roundtable discussions with parents and educators regarding two new proposed bills: Child Care for Working Families Act of 2019 and Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit Enhancement Act.

Casey’s visit included a tour of the Education Centre, reading “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” to one of the BCIU’s child care classrooms, and meeting with several parents and educators to provide an overview of the bills and listen to their valuable feedback regarding child care and why early childhood services are important to them.

“The BCIU was honored to host Senator Casey this morning. It is evident that he is an advocate and champion for parents and children, not only in the BCIU’s early education programs, but in early education programs across the Commonwealth,” said Michelle Reichard-Huff, director of Early Childhood and Student Services for the BCIU.
