Does your organization rely on volunteers to thrive? If so, this event is for you.
Non-profit organizations are invited to participate in the Volunteer Fair to be held Monday, Jan. 21, 2019 — Martin Luther King Jr. Day — from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event is hosted by St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 548 Old Swede Road (Route 662), Douglassville.
The Volunteer Fair is a way for non-profit groups to introduce themselves to attendees; showcasing their missions, what they do, how they help the community, and the roles of volunteers within their organization.
The event is inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.’s commitment to service, and thus, there is no fee for organizations to participate. St. Paul’s Lutheran Church is pleased to allow the use of their Fellowship Hall to bring people together.
Each participating organization will receive one 8-foot table and is encouraged to bring signage, displays, literature, brochures, flyers and giveaways.
“The fair is an effort to bring together community members with local organizations, for a better community. The event will host a variety of nonprofit organizations, conveniently located all in one place,” said Jim Trout, organizer and committee chairperson.
“This will be our third annual event. The inaugural event was held in 2016, hosting 23 organizations and attended by 100 prospective volunteers. The event grew in 2017, hosting 28 organizations and attended by 120 prospective volunteers.
Representatives from each organization are present, meeting prospective volunteers, talking with them about their interests, involvement, time availability, and ways individuals can become involved.
The Volunteer Fair is a way of connecting people, making the process of volunteering more convenient and ultimately more fulfilling.
Trout added, “This is a unique opportunity for people to come together and connect; to work together to support the great efforts of our community.”
