219 Relay for Life events will takeplacein Pennsylvania this year.They include: 7,618 teams, 15,714 cancer survivors and 99,855 participants.$18.7 million was raised through 118 Relay events in Pennsylvania in 2006.

$3 billion dollars has been spent by the American Cancer Society on research.

58 percent:The five-year survival ratef or cancer patients in 1997.

1985:Thefirs t Relay for Life was held when Dr. Gordon Klatt ran and walked for 24 hours, raising $27,000 for the American Cancer Society.

1998: Cancer incidents dropped for the first time in 20 years.

2003:Thefirs t year since 1930 when data started being compiled that deaths due to cancer began to decrease.
