Mertztown resident earns master's degree Jeremy Meck, of Mertztown, received his master's degree in physician assistant studies from King's College, Wilkes-Barre, at a recent summer commencement ceremony.The graduation speech was delivered by Dr. Doug Ayers, a 1986 King's College graduate and a noted local veterinarian. He is also an active community leader founding and chairing The Lands at Hillside Farms and the North Branch Land Trust, which work to preserve the local environment.
King's College is a Catholic College sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross.
Golden Bears face Slippery Rock
Kutztown University's football team will hit the road for the first time in 2008, when it travels to Slippery Rock University on Sept. 13. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover will kick off at 6 p.m. at SRU's N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
Both teams are 1-1, coming off opposite ends of come-from-behind decisions on Sept. 6. KU fell to Clarion, 26-20, while SRU defeated Millersville, 28-24.
