Frank Abagnale, author of Catch Me If You Can, is coming to Kutztown University to speak on today’s security challenges and tactics for safeguarding information. Hosted by the Association of Campus Events, this event will take place on April 6 at 7 p.m. in Schaeffer Auditorium.
Detailed in his best-selling book, Catch Me If You Can, Abagnale reveals his past life of serving time in French, Swedish and U.S. prisons, only to be released after five years on the contingency that he help the federal government by teaching and assisting federal law enforcement agencies. His knowledge and expertise gives him the respect as one of the world’s authorities on forgery, embezzlement and secure documents. He has now worked for more than 40 years as an advisor and consultant to hundreds of financial institutes, corporations and government agencies around the world.
Abagnale has more than 14,000 institutions, corporations and law enforcement agencies using his fraud prevention programs. His success has led to being selected as the spokesperson for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and the National Cyber Security Alliance. In 1998 he was selected as a distinguished member of “Pinnacle 400,” a select group of 400 people who have demonstrated great success in their fields.
Before attending Abagnale’s speech, there are opportunities to watch his film, Catch Me If You Can, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks, in the Alumni Auditorium (MSU 183).
