It was “Sweet 16” as The Center at Spring Street at Boyertown Area Multi-Service celebrated its 16th year of the Senior/Senior Prom. On Friday, March 11, The Senior/Senior Prom brought together the “over 55 crowd” with a group of high school seniors for an evening of dancing and fun at 200 West Spring Street, Boyertown. Disco ball decorations, colorful ribbons and streamers decorated the Center’s Main Room and highlighted the theme of the evening, “70s Disco.” A variety of music was provided by the band “Classic Touch,” sponsored in part by Rita’s Water Ice of Boyertown.

Thirty Boyertown Area Senior High School National Honor Society students, under the direction of Advisor Alison Pearson, greeted other senior attendees as they arrived. Students gave the ladies flowers and escorted dancers to their seats. As you might imagine, the 64 members of The Center at Spring Street were delighted to share their “home” with the young people. Students provided delicious treats for the evening and a photo booth with props made for some amusing photo opportunities! Photographer Bob Shoup was also on hand to capture many delightful moments of this special event.

The dance floor was the place to be, with line dancing, twisting and slow dancing. However, when the band took its breaks, the room buzzed with conversation around the tables. Stories were told and dreams and plans for the future were shared senior to senior.

Whether 17 or 70, the “seniors” shared a wonderful evening getting to know one another, dancing to some favorite tunes and creating some special memories. All who attended hope this tradition will continue for many years to come.
