Martyn O. Hotvedt, PhD, has been named Vice President and Chief Academic Officer at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center. In this position, Dr. Hotvedt will provide strategic oversight for the graduate medical education program and for medical student education at The Reading Hospital.In addition, Dr. Hotvedt will coordinate the Hospital's academic affiliation with Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, an alliance formed earlier this year that makes The Reading Hospital a major teaching affiliate of Jefferson's medical school.
The GME program currently includes physician residencies for categorical and preliminary medicine, family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, transitional year, and osteopathic experiences. Medical students also undergo clinical rotations at the Hospital in many specialty fields.
In addition, Dr. Hotvedt will head academic clinical research and the Hospital's Continuing Medical Education program.
Dr. Hotvedt succeeds David L. George, MD, who had served as acting CAO during the recruitment and transition period. Dr. George continues to serve as the Associate Chair for the Department of Medicine and Director of both the Categorical and Preliminary Medicine Residency programs at The Reading Hospital.
