The Allentown and Auburn Railroad hosted Trick-or-Treat Train Rides to Topton and Kutztown all day on Halloween, Oct. 31. Children and families were able to enjoy the scenic views along the loop and pick their own pumpkins at the picnic grove on their way back.

Families from all over Berks County came to Kutztown to celebrate the holiday doing fall festivities with loved ones. The historic train, dating back to 1853, is now a 4 mile loop used for special occasions. Each cart also has a coal fire pit inside to heat guests during the chilly afternoons.

The children, all dressed in Halloween costumes, received education on the train by learning about the farm animals and environments they were riding by. Pumpkins and goodie bags were available for all to take while at the picnic grove. Parents had great photo opportunities and bonding time during the hour and a half event.

Allentown and Auburn Railroad’s next event will take place on Dec. 5 for the Christmas in Kutztown celebration. Visitors will ride the same loop to Topton and have the opportunity to purchase Christmas trees and wreaths at the picnic grove.
