THE GREATER READING LITERARY FESTIVALThe Second Annual Reading Reads: The Greater Reading Literary Festival host activities at various venues through out the month of October. The festival includes - Authors of Berks County origin and authors from around the world will be here to speak about their writings, and to autograph copies of their books. Readings, workshops, open mics, performances, and book signings are some of the activities planned.
NOLDE FOREST ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER
Â€¢ Applications for permits for a permit-only archery deer hunt at the Nolde Forest Environmental Education Center October 1 to November 9 are available at the Center Office beginning Tuesday, September 4. Hunters will be selected by lottery on September 18.

BERKS WOMEN IN CRISIS
On November 14 and 15, Berks Women in Crisis staff members will be presenters at two workshops at the Pathways to Victim Services Conference, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD), at the Penn Stater Conference Center in State College, PA.
2007 SKATE AMERICA
2007 Skate America, will be held Oct. 26-28, at the Sovereign Center. Skate America is an Olympic-style international figure skating event featuring three days of competition in ladies, men's, pairs and ice dancing.
FITZY'S5K/1M RUN/WALK HALLOWEEN EVENT

COUNTY-WIDE BOOK BONANZA
County-wide used book collection for Book Bonanza 2008 will be held Saturday, October 27 outside the Reading Regional Airport, from 9 am to noon. Adult and children's hardback or paperback books in good condition are needed. The Book Bonanza provides funds for scholarships for women and the Berks Libraries' Summer Reading Program for Kids.
