Disney On Ice, Mickey & Minnie's Magical Journey, is coming to town! From Oct. 9-13, the Sovereign Center, Reading, will be transformed into a child's paradise.The ice production will include performances from classic Disney movies "The Little Mermaid," "The Lion King," "Lilo & Stitch" and "Peter Pan."

Ontario, Canada, native Sacha Lalonde, 29, who plays "old" Simba from Disney's "The Lion King," in the production, said the show has an experienced group of skaters, dancers, choreographers, light specialists etc. "The show is nice for everyone and fun for the whole family," he added. And, Lalonde said, the show can bring Disney's magic to Berks County residents who can't visit the amusement park.

Lalonde, who has been with the company since he was 23, began skating at a very young age.

"My family and I used to go skating every weekend when I was younger," said Lalonde.

He took his first steps on the ice at age four, and two years later began taking lessons. He continued to compete in hockey and other sports but said "he liked jumping so much," that he decided to stick with figure skating.

Beside his Disney resume, Lalonde has competed in 12 national events.

In 2001, He auditioned for, and won a spot with, Disney On Ice Presents Princess Classics. "I want audiences to be able to relive their favorite Disney stories in a whole new way."

Lalonde said he also wants the audience, especially the Throughout Lalonde's Disney career, he has portrayed many Disney characters, such as Aladdin and Peter Pan, but said playing Simba is his favorite by far. With his skating partner Ashley Wong, as "Nila," they will perform songs "The Circle of Life" and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from the movie in October.

Disney On Ice, which is produced by Feld Entertainment, has a number of casts that travel around the world entertaining families. Lalonde is part of the North American show tour which is currently performing in, Sunrise, Fla., before heading to Reading.

"Traveling is a big perk," said Lalonde. He has been to London, Paris, Hong Kong, Bali and many more cities. This will be his first time in Reading. "I have been to Pennsylvania, but not Reading. I love Pennsylvania and it will be a nice change from Sunrise."

Disney On Ice, Mickey & Minnie's Magical Journey comes to Reading on Oct. 9 - 13. Oct. 9th performance is 7 p.m., Oct. 10th performance is 7 p.m., Oct. 11 performances are 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., Oct. 12 performances are 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., and Oct. 13 performance is 1 p.m.
