Dr. Stewart H. Goodman, 67, Rockland Township, passed away of natural causes Aug. 3, 2008, at 8:58 a.m., at home.He was the husband of Jane E. (Early) Goodman.
Born in Norfolk, Va., Dr. Goodman was a son of the late Morris and Goldie (Salzberg) Goodman.
Goodman was a graduate of Norfolk Academy, Norfolk, and a 1962 graduate of Duke University, Durham, N.C. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, Los Angles, in 1967.
Dr. Goodman and his family relocated from Charlotte, N.C., to Berks County in 1992, where he was to serve as quality improvement director for Decorative Specialties International of Reading. He was most recently employed in the same position for Fres-co System USA Inc., Telford, from which he retired in 2006.
Dr. Goodman was a member of Reformed Congregation Oheb Sholom of Wyomissing.
He was a proud member of Tau Kappa Phi and Duke University Alumni Association. Dr. Goodman served on the committee for PA Junior Miss/PA Outstanding Young Women; and Greater Miss Berks County Scholarship Organization.
He enjoyed ballroom dancing with Fun N Friends, VIP and various dance clubs. He enjoyed traveling, gourmet cooking and photography.
In addition to his wife, Dr. Goodman is survived by a son, Jeffrey N., and wife, Jennifer (McIntyre) Goodman, Concord, N.C.; a daughter, Julie, wife of John C. Hawkins, Philadelphia; and his beloved granddaughter, Callie Hawkins.
Other survivors include a sister, Barbara G. (Goodman) Martin, Norfolk; and a sister-in-law, Judy G. Duffy, Winterville, N.C.
Dr. Goodman was predeceased by a brother, Dr. Allan J. Goodman.
A memorial service was Aug. 5 at Reformed Congregation Oheb Sholom, 555 Warwick Drive, Wyomissing, with Rabbi Brian I. Michelson officiating. Burial was held at the convenience of the family.
