West-Mont Christian Academy's Sustainable Energy Science class has been awarded a Seed Grant from West Chester University's 3E Institute. The funds will be used to complete a stand-alone solar array which will power a computerized educational workstation within the school's media center. The workstation will be an on-going resource for promoting all forms of sustainable energy and conservation strategies to WCA students and the community.The Academy's Sustainable Energy Science class has spent the year examining Wind, Solar-Passive, Photovoltaics, Fuel Cells, BioMass, Hydropower, Tidal, Wave, Geothermal, and Nuclear Energy. Additionally, the students visited many sustainable energy sites throughout Pennsylvania. As a school, West-Mont Christian Academy is committed to providing a progressive and effective education to its students. Scientific, environmental, and vocational opportunities are extensive within these developing technologies.

Mr. Mark Moore, WCA's Sustainable Energy Science instructor, received the grant at the 3E Institute's Seventh Annual Business and Education Leadership Forum on Thursday April 16, 2009, at the Union League of Philadelphia. "Our kids have worked really hard this year; the 3E Institute grant will be a big help in completing their project. We are very grateful for their support and recognition of our school."
