Edward J. Straub, 75, Cumru Township, passed away from natural causes July 28, 2009, at the Reading Hospital.
Edward was the husband of Cecelia A. (Woerner) Straub.
Also known as "Tex," Edward was born in Wisconisco, Dauphin County. He was a son of the late Russell and Julia (Charney) Straub.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the 148th Fighter Squadron Association, Middletown.
For most of his life, he worked as a heavy equipment operator in the home building trades.
He was a lifetime member of the Gouglersville Fire Company.
Edward is also survived by his daughters, Joan Straub and Barbara Woerner, at home; Mary Jane Mountz of Reading; Jean-Louise, wife of James Heilman of Mohnton; Christine Hoffa of Dubuque, Iowa; and Rose Straub of Pottstown.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Shawna, Elizabeth, Jamie, Brooke and Gary; his three stepgrandchildren: Heather, Ashley and Jessica; and a stepgreat-granddaughter, Isabella.
Other survivors include two sisters, Jean Straub of Virginia and Delores Anderson of Florida.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons, James Heilman Jr. and Steven Hoffa; and two sisters, Mary Jane Owens and Rose Marie Woerner.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. John Baptist de LaSalle Roman Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township. Military honors were provided by the Topton American Legion.
