The American Legion Post hosted a Memorial Day Observance at the cemetery in Elverson on May 25 at 10:30 a.m.
It was a beautiful day and many people from the community came out to show their support and remember those who gave their all.
Boy Scout Troop 37 Scouts Garrett Hartman, Jacob Donahue, Nick Malcom, Dan Lawrence, Christian Lignore, Isaac Williams, Aaron Phillips and Pat Flaherty saluted the American Legion Post members as they entered the park.
Elverson Mayor Bob Broderick welcomed all to the celebration.
Casey Cloonan sang “The Star Spangled Banner,” “America the Beautiful,” and “God Bless America.”
Boy Scout Troop 37 also conducted a flag folding ceremony and retired the flag. They then raised a new flag.
American Legion Post 537 Commander Roger Jacobs and Korean War Veteran John Mohl conducted the placing of the wreath ceremony.
The American Legion Color Guard Post 537 provided a Gun Salute and Taps.
Mohl shared closing remarks to conclude Elverson’s Memorial Day celebration.
The Elverson Boy Scout Troop 37 meets on Mondays at 7 p.m. at the Elverson Borough Hall. The leaders are Scoutmaster Tom Yost, Vince Malcom, Anthony Malcom, Jeremy Forrest, Pat Flaherty, and Ed Donahue.
