An Exeter Township woman has waived a preliminary hearing on a charge that she hurled a full plastic bottle of water into another car, hitting a passenger who had brain surgery days earlier, in a road rage incident in the township.
Maurissa Olney-Howard, 23, of the 5000 block of Orchard Place remained free to await further court action after her appearance Dec. 11 before District Judge Sandra L. Fegley.
She is charged with a single count of propulsion of missiles onto roadways.
According to the criminal complaint:
On Oct. 1, another driver was southbound on Gibraltar Road approaching the intersection with Demoss Road. The driver said she got into the right turning lane and quickly realized she wanted to be in the left lane.
She said the lanes were clear so she turned on her left turn signal and moved into the left lane. When she did this, a car pulled up next to her and Olney-Howard yelled at her for cutting her off, then threw the water bottle into her car, striking her passenger in the head.
The woman took a cellphone photo of the driver and gave police a description of her.
Based on that information, police identified Olney-Howard as the driver. They contacted her at her home, and she admitted her involvement in the incident.
She wasn't taken into the custody but was charged by summons.
