Crews responded to a barn fire in Colebrookdale Township that produced smoke that could be seen for miles Saturday night, Sept. 12.
Boyertown Area Fire & Rescue officials said firefighters were dispatched to 891 Unger Lane at 7:23 p.m.
Crews arrived to find a a box truck and trailer engulfed in flames as well as part of the building and a large area in front of the structure. Crews entered the building to push the fire back out toward the trailer while dealing with several explosions from stored fuel and other flammable containers.
Officials said the fire was brought under control quickly, but firefighters worked late into the night handling hot spots under the truck and trailer.
Boyertown fire officials expressed thanks to Eastern Berks Regional Police, fire crews from Eastern Berks, Gilbertsville and Earl Township, Boyertown Ambulance and the Salvation Army Canteen for their help at the scene.
