Fleetwood Girls Softball Association held their 6th Annual Coaches vs. Kids Hits-for-Charity event on Oct. 14.
More than 50 members of the community and their families took part in an all-day event that included coaches playing against their players ages ranging from ages 5 to 18. Dozens of raffle baskets were available, along with other prizes, carnival games, shaving cream pies in the faces of their favorite coaches, plus lots of food and plenty of fun.
In total $2,500 was raised to be split between Fleetwood Girls Softball Association and this year's charity of choice, the Fleetwood High School Four-Diamonds & Mini-thon which raises money each year for childhood cancer. The Softball Association will use their half of the money raised to keep the cost of membership low and for future roofs over the dug-outs at their home field at the Blandon Fire Company.
Past years events have raised money for breast cancer awareness, Special Olympics, Wounded Warriors, the Kiley Steward Foundation, and the Animal Rescue League.
For Fleetwood Girls Softball Association, this event has allowed them to purchase a digital scoreboard, renovate their dug-outs, purchase and install a batting cage, and off-set the cost of additional tournaments and skills clinics.
