Justin Germani, the Daniel Boone High School pole vaulter, continued his amazing season when he not only won a gold medal at the District 3-AAA Championships at Shippensburg University on Friday, May 18, but he set a new District 3 and Berks County record.His vault of 16' ' 2 1/2" topped the previous district record of 6' ' 2", held by Mason Ternay of Reading, He set that record back in 1989.
What was also amazing about the vault is that Germani's previous best vault was at 5'-6".
Also performing well at the District 3 meet and earning a silver medal was Exeter's Morgan Price. Price was second in the 100 hurdles in a time of 15.24 seconds.
Exeter's Nick Hilton also earned silver medal in the 1,600 with a time of 4:24.08.
He finished just ahead of Twin Valley's Josh Trego, who placed third in the 1,600 in a time of 4:28.75.
Daniel Boone's Aubrie McAlpine continued her fine season by placing third in the 100. She ran it in a time of 12.30 seconds.
Matthew Cannell of Daniel Boone captured sixth place in the long jump with a leap of 21'-5 1/2".
In seventh place in the high jump was Meghan Loos. She earned the medal with a jump of 5'-0".
Twin Valley's Kevin Moore earned an eighth place finish in the 400 in a time of 51.23 seconds. Also finishing eighth was the Twin Valley 1,600 relay team in 3:26.21.
