An 88-year-old Montgomery County man was injured Tuesday morning when his car slammed into a car parked along Boyertown’s main drag and rolled onto its side, Eastern Berks Regional police said.
The crash happened about 6:15 a.m. when Gerald Theissen of the Gilbertsville area lost control of his car in the 300 block of East Philadelphia Avenue, also known as Route 73, near Jefferson Street, police said.
An unoccupied, legally parked car was pushed against a sign post.
A Boyertown Fire & Rescue crew cut open the roof of Theissen’s car to free him with the help of a crew from Boyertown Ambulance. No one else was in the car.
Theissen suffered unspecified injuries and was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital, near Allentown. Information on his condition was unavailable.
Eastern Berks Police Chief Barry Leatherman said the cause of the accident remained unclear.
