The Hawks had a four-game winning streak snapped on Jan. 2 when it ran into undefeated Muhlenberg. Hamburg had a chance to take control of Berks III when it faced Wyomissing on Jan. 5 (after the Item deadline).
The team has a busy week and can solidify its chances of making the District 3 playoffs with a strong run. On Jan. 8 the team hosts Antietam. On Jan. 10, the Hawks (8-4 overall) travel to Conrad Weiser and then return home for an engagement with Kutztown on Jan. 12.
Schuylkill Valley also finds itself on the cusp of the District 3 playoffs and still has an outside shot at the Berks III title. At 2-2 in the league, the Panthers are 1 1/2 games behind Wyomissing. They had a home game with Oley Valley on Jan. 5. The Panthers host Tulpehocken on Jan. 8 then travel to non-league Blue Mountain on Saturday. On Jan. 12, Schuylkill Valley is at Antietam. The Panthers are at 6-5 overall and rode a two-game winning streak into the Jan. 5 game with Oley Valley.
After ripping Morrisville for its first win of the season on Dec. 29, Tulpehocken dropped two straight. The Trojans hosted Kutztown on Jan. 5, then travel to Schuylkill Valley on Jan. 8 and Twin Valley on Jan. 10.
