Volunteers from the American Legion Post 471 Auxiliary and members of the Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) from Boyertown area junior high schools will distribute red poppy flowers from May 17 to 20 in honor of area veterans who died while serving their country over the last 75 years.Planned to coincide with the Memorial Day holiday and Armed Forces Day, Poppy Day also honors the millions of Americans who have served their country in eight decades.

Proceeds will benefit veterans in need. Approximately 25 million Americans wear the flower, annually contributing over $2 million for rehabilitation and welfare programs.

The poppy program has been part of auxiliary programming for over 70 years.
