James P. (Jim) Witman, Sr., 74 yrs., of Honey Brook, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Hospice of Lancaster, following a long illness.

He was born in Reading, Pa. on July 12, 1936. He was the son of the late J. Elmer and Gertrude (Lick) Witman. He was the husband of the late Ruby M. (Mimm) Witman, who died on July 2, 2002.

Jim was President of the former Penn Valley Savings Bank of Honey Brook from 1968 to 1985. He later was a consultant for Hill Financial, until his retirement in 1989. He was a lifetime member and former fire chief for the Honey Brook Fire Company, lifetime member and past president of the Honey Brook Lions Club, founding board member of the Northwestern Chester County Municipal Authority, Assistant Scoutmaster for the Honey Brook Boy Scouts and a member of the Honey Brook United Methodist Church.

He is survived by 2 sons, James P. Jr. and his wife Edie Witman of Morgantown and Tomas E. and his wife Mary Witman of Honey Brook; a brother, Philip E. Witman of Narvon and 2 granddaughters, Amber Witman and April Killinger.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 11 AM from The Labs Funeral Home, Inc., 141 Pequea Ave., Honey Brook, Pa. with Pastor Tim Herr officiating. Interment will follow at the Honey Brook Methodist Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
