The Boyertown Jaycees 55th annual Halloween Parade is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.Over $2,230 in prize money will be awarded. Awards will also be presented to the top four finishers in the following categories: float (any size), drill and baton unit, best scouting unit, costumed group (two or more), individual and most original.

The deadline to register for the parade is Monday, Oct. 15.

Parade particpants are asked to report to the parking lots at the Boyertown Elementary School, Boyertown Junior High School West and Federal-Mogul at 5:30 p.m.

All children who march will receive treat bags filled with candy and coupons from local businesses.

Individual marchers are asked to report to Federal-Mogul parking lot.

The parade will begin head-ing north on Madison Street, west on Philadelphia Ave., south on Reading Ave., east on Third Street, south on Monroe Street then east on Second Street.

WRFY (102.5 FM), the parade's emcee, will be positioned in front of the Friendship Hook and Ladder Fire Company at the intersection of Third Street and South Reading Avenue.

To help alleviate traffic at Second and Madison streets, the Boyertown Jaycees are asking that the following entrances be used by parade participants to reach their formation areas:

Division 1 and individual walkers-Enter from the western end of Second Street.

Division 2-Enter from Route 100, turn onto Jackson Road, left onto Sweinhart Road, right onto Mill Street, right onto Englesville Road and right onto

Madison Street Division 3-Enter from Route 100 to Jackson Road, right onto Sweinhart Road then left onto Second.

The Boyertown Jaycees ask all spectators to refain from placing any benches, chairs, blankets or any other objects along the route more than 24 hours before the parade.

The Borough of Boyertown will be removing any objects that are placed on the sidewalks before Friday at 7 p.m.

The rain date will be Sunday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m.
