Judy L. Schappell, 58, Shillington, passed away June 2, 2008, in Berkshire Center, Exeter Township, after a courageous fight with cancer.Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Richard S. Hoffman and Elda A. (Fisher) Hoffman.
For 13 years, Judy was self-employed with her own cleaning service. Formerly she had been a detective for Berks County Domestic Relations and a former Berks County Prison guard.
She was an active member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, West Lawn, where she was the leader of Loving Arms, a cancer support group.
Surviving are a son, Trevor J. Fisher, husband of Linda Fisher, Auburn, Schuylkill County; and a daughter, Holly A., wife of Jeffery Albert, West Lawn.
Other survivors include two brothers, Richard D. Hoffman, Bernville, and Robert D. Hoffman, Leesport; and a sister, Melissa J. Fusco, of Aurora, Colo.
There are also two grandchildren, Chase Fisher and Keira Albert; and her companion, Frank Meade, Boyertown.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Brandon Albert, in 2007.
Services were Friday at 10 a.m. in Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, 1110 Snyder Road, West Lawn, with Pastor Robert McSurdy officiating.
