MUHLENBERG TOWNSHIP, PA —
Two state lawmakers who represent Berks County will host an Affordable Care Act enrollment event on Friday, Nov. 22, where Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner Jessica Altman will be on hand to answer questions and assist local residents.
Sen. Judy Schwank and Rep. Mark Rozzi said the session, which will begin at 11 a.m. at the Muhlenberg Township building on George Street, will give health care consumers an opportunity to get help signing up for insurance through the ACA marketplace or through Medicare.
Medicare enrollment ends Dec. 7 and the open enrollment period for the marketplace ends Dec. 15.
"Pennsylvanians need access to affordable health care if they are to live healthier and more productive lives," Schwank said in a press release. "This event is meant to give the citizens of Reading and Berks County another opportunity to sign up for health care."
Rozzi added that the deadline to enroll is rapidly approaching.
"We need to make sure everyone has access to the resources necessary to choose the best health care plan for themselves and their families," Rozzi said. "It can seem like a daunting process, but help is available."
The event is free. Participants will need documentation to verify annual income (W-2 or paystub) and a government-issued photo ID.
