Katherine V. Reimert, 97, formerly of Sinking Spring, passed away Feb. 21, 2008, at 1:03 a.m. in Mifflin Center, where she had been a patient since 2003.She was the widow of Earl H. Reimert, who passed away Aug. 25, 1996.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Alvin J. and Keturah A. (Smoll) Bewley.
She was employed for 18 years as a machine operator at JoAd Garment until her retirement in 1983.
She was a graduate of Reading Standard Evening High School.
A member of Allegheny Evangelical Lutheran Church, she formerly was a member of the Luther League at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church and was the former treasurer for the Sunday school there.
She was involved in the Red Cross disaster services and taught the first CPR course in Berks County and did so for seven years and was a first-aid instructor for the Red Cross.
Surviving is a daughter, Susan J. (Reimert), wife of Edward C. Darbro, Mohnton.
Other survivors include two granddaughters, Amanda (Darbro), wife of James Thomas, and Mitzi (Darbro), wife of Christopher Cote; and four great-grandchildren: Cassandra and Cameron Cote, and Emma and Abigail Thomas.
Memorial services were held on Sunday at 3 p.m. in Allegheny Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Richard W. Chaveas officiating.
