Kutztown University Radio took home seven runner-up trophies for seven categories at the 2019 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Awards held at the 79th International IBS Conference in New York City on March 2.

“It always does my heart good to see local community radio alive and well in Berks County,” Michael Regensburger, KUR advisor. As I always say, college radio is one of the last bastions of what true live radio should sound like, not the corporate stuff you hear on the higher end of the FM radio dial.”

KUR received runner-up finalist trophies in the following categories: Best Community Outreach Event - "Sounds by South Campus," Best Football Play-By-Play - KUR Football, Best Specialty Music Show - "The Coming Out Special, " Best Documentary - "History of Music – Videogames," Best Radio Drama - "The Break 'Zombie Special,'" Best use of Instagram - KUR Instagram, and Best use of Facebook - KUR's "Kutztown Kountry's" Facebook page.

This year KUR faced tough competition from college radio stations including Rutgers Radio and Temple University Radio, who were also part of this year's ceremony.

Last year, KUR brought home the most trophies in organization history at the 2018 IBS Awards. KUR was the winner of both the Best Station Playlist/Music Selection and the Best Specialty Show. The station was also named a finalist in six categories. In recent years, KUR has also taken home the "Golden Microphone" for Best News Interview and Best Use of Social Media.
