Lester H. Meck, 80, Lenhartsville, died Sept. 15, 2008, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.He was the husband of Anna M. (Arndt) Meck. They were married Nov. 15, 1947.

Born Oct. 7, 1927, in Longswamp Twp., he was a son of the late Daniel K. and Sallie R. (Shoemaker) Meck.

He was a member of Frieden's Lutheran Church, Stony Run, where he was a former church council member.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

A 1947 graduate of Kutztown Area High School, he graduated from the DeVry Institute School of Electronics, Chicago, with a degree in electronics repair.

He was a maintenance superintendent for the Kutztown Area School District for 20 years, retiring in 1993. Prior to that he was a carpenter at the former Charles E. Arndt Contracting, Greenwich Twp., 1947 to 1973.

His memberships included the Kempton Rod and Gun Club; the Lenhartsville Fish and Game; member and past president of the Kempton Lions Club; the Hoch-Balthaster Post 480, American Legion, Kutztown; the Grundsow Lodge 15, Kutztown; and the East Penn School Retirees.

Surviving are his wife, Anna, a son, Steven D., husband of Sharon A. (Hollinger) Meck, and a daughter, Faye A. (Meck), wife of Ronald Adams, both of Lenhartsville.

Other survivors include two sisters, Sally Ann (Meck), wife of George Schofer, Topton, and Shirley J. (Meck), wife of Russell Guldin, Mertztown; and three brothers: Stanley, widower of Marietta (Romig) Meck, a resident at The Lutheran Home at Topton; Nevin, widower of Lucille (Oswald) Meck, Alburtis; and Franklin, wife of Pearl (Kauffman) Meck, Mertztown.

There are five grandchildren: Elijah D. Meck, Megan K.A. Adams, Jeremiah L. Meck, Josiah C. Meck and Mandy L.A. Adams.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, David R.W. Adams, on Dec. 12, 1996.

Services were private with the Rev. Norman E. Dresher officiating.
