According to Berks-Lehigh Regional Police Department, Fleetwood Bank was robbed on Sept. 6, just before noon.According to witnesses, three men entered the bank at 3 S. Main St. in the borough brandishing handguns.
The trio is described as one white male, and two African-Americans.
Once inside the bank, they forced tellers to the ground and then hopped over the counter and took an undetermined amount of money.
The white male is described as having a "very large build" and is about 6 feet, 2 inches tall. He was wearing a light-colored, hooded sweatshirt and white pants with a single stripe down the leg. He had dark-colored shoes and a camouflage-patterned bandanna covering his face.
His accomplice is described as a 5 feet, 6-inch tall man with a "stocky" build. He wore a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt and had a bandanna that didn't cover his face. He also wore light-colored shoes. The third robber is about 6-feet tall with a large build. Like the others, he also wore a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt, and his bandanna covered his face.
After getting their money, the trio fled the bank area in a white Honda Accord. Police said the car was found abandoned shortly after the heist in Maxatawny Township. Later, police learned the car had been reported stolen.
Berks-Lehigh Regional Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigations continue to investigate the case and anyone with information about this robbery is being asked to call Criminal Investigator Robert Djevharian at 610-683-8740.
Officer Dathan Schlegel told The Patriot, as of Sept. 9, "There are no additional details and no one was harmed."
