The Nations of Praise Choir, a non-profit organization from the Spring Valley Church of God in Reading, has been asked to perform at the International Church of God Conference this August in San Antonio, Texas. They are the first group from the Northeast to receive an invite in the 102 years of history of the Conference.Local businessman Keith L. Weiser is an active participant in the choir. He has been working closely with the church and local businesses to raise funds for this event. On Sunday, June 8 Keith, with other choir members, will be raising funds at Uno's Chicago Bar and Grill in Spring Township.
On that day patrons of the restaurant who present a coupon will have 20 percent of their bill go toward fundraising efforts. These coupons can be picked up at the Spring Valley Church of God at 2727 Old Pricetown Rd., in Temple, or at Steve Moyer Subaru, 201 S. Centre Ave. in Leesport.
The choir, formed in 1999, is based out of the Spring Valley Church of God in Temple. The diverse group of members is comprised of more than 40 residents from all over the Berks County area, including Fleetwood, Adamstown, and Oley Valley. Since their formation, the choir has been honored with the privilege of performing with popular Christian artists such as Steve Green, Calvin Hunt, David Phelps, and secular artist Gregory Hines.
This summer, the Nations of Praise Choir will be taking its act on the road. They will be taking part in the 72nd International General Assembly practice from August 4 through 9. The International Assembly is the highest governing body of the Church of God.
The Nations of Praise Choir, receiving national attention, will be performing in front of traveling missionaries from all across the world who will congregate for this event.
Over the years the Nations of Praise Ministries has collaborated with local area businesses and churches to aid in the revitalization efforts of Reading.
