Memorial Day service in Blandon among many in Berks to honor the fallen  (copy)

The American Legion Post 625 honor guard marches into the cemetery during the Blandon Lions Club Memorial Day Service at Maidencreek Church in 2017.

Master Sgt. Walter Gensemer, a decorated Vietnam War veteran, will be the keynote speaker at Memorial Day services May 31 at 11:30 a.m. in Maier's Grove, Blandon.

The service is sponsored by the Blandon Lions Club.

American Legion Post 625 honor guard will post the colors, and Master Sgt. David Wentzel will deliver the opening remarks.

The Rev. Sara A. Hertzog, pastor of Maidencreek Church in Blandon, will lead the assembly in prayer.

There will be a solo by Emily Walbert and a reading by Tim Mills, past president of the Blandon Lions.

Wentzel and Gensemer will officiate at the laying of a memorial wreath at a new monument to be dedicated in the grove.

Ian Snyder, a member of the Penn State Blue Band, will sound taps.

Following the program, lunch will be available in the grove.
