Two drivers were taken to an area hospital Sunday after a car and a minivan collided in eastern Berks County, causing the van occupied by two passengers to roll, state police said Tuesday.
The crash happened shortly before noon at Seisholtzville and Star roads in Hereford Township, troopers from the Reading station said.
They provided this account:
The driver of the car, Doris C. Dow, 78, of Allentown, ran a stop sign while southbound on Star Road. That forced the driver of the westbound van, Cecilia A. Zander, 32, of North Wales, Montgomery County, to swerve, but she couldn’t avoid a collision.
The van hit the front end of the car, rolled at least three times and crashed into a tree along Seisholtzville Road before coming to rest on its roof.
Both cars were towed from the scene.
Dow and Zander suffered unspecified injuries and were taken by ambulances to Lehigh Valley Hospital, near Allentown. Information on their medical conditions was unavailable.
Two passengers in the van, a 30-year-old North Wales man and a 9-year-old girl, were evaluated at the scene for minor injuries but declined to be taken to a hospital.
Hereford and Seisholtzville fire companies assisted troopers at the scene.
Dow was cited for failing to yield at a stop sign.
