The ongoing commitment of a Colebrookdale Township company to the Foundation for Boyertown Education has given the organization the ability to provide additional educational experiences for local students.

Martin Stone Quarries Inc. recently presented the foundation with a $30,000 donation. The donation was made through a charitable fund and brings its total contribution to the foundation to $110,000 over the last five years.

Alison Moyer, the communication and marketing specialist for the foundation, said in a press release that Rod Martin,  company president, and his family have proudly demonstrated their commitment to children and education throughout the years.

Martin, who was a founding member of the foundation and currently board vice president, said in the release that the organization is important because he believes in supporting his local community. He added that the foundation supports students in ways that would not be possible through normal funding methods and tax revenue streams.

"It is with the generous help of the parents and businesses in the community that our children are given the enhanced programs and enrichment tools they need to be successful in the future," he said.

Martin said watching the foundation grow to where it is today is his proudest philanthropic accomplishment.

"We have a dedicated board of directors and executive director who work hard for the students in the district — having raised more than $750,000 to date," he said. "These students will ultimately be the future leaders of our community."

Martin Stone Quarries, a family-owned business, was founded in 1953 as a provider of aggregate and infield mix.
